October Mom of the Month: Tiffany Shuff!

From Instructor Ashley Youngblood: "Tiffany and Finn are an absolute joy to have in class! They are always smiling and ready to see their Stroller Strides buddies. Tiffany loves a challenge and I am so proud of her progress through Stroller Strides. Keep it up mama!"

Let's hear a little more about Tiffany!

1. Who are the members of your family?

In our little household, we have my son Finn (currently 16 months old) and my husband Travis.

2. What is or was your career?

I work at Chatham County Superior Court as a case manager for the Drug Court, Veterans Court, and Mental Health Court. I work for two of the Judges at the Court and I love it! I also recently decided to start a side business and became an independent consultant for Usborne Books and More (this is more fun than work).

3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of Savannah and what has it done for you?

I joined Stroller Strides around January 2017, thanks to another mom at my son's daycare who invited me to try out a class. I instantly fell in love with group and have been attending classes ever since. Stroller Strides has done so many things for me, I could probably write a book, but I will just name a few. For starters, it has provided my son and myself with some amazing friendships with other mamas and their kiddos. These are mothers who are in the same phase of life as us and it is so wonderful to have mamas to seek advice from and to provide counsel to with my own experiences. Also, it has helped me get back in shape! I am actually below my pre-pregnancy weight and have more energy than I have ever had (despite chasing around a toddler full time!) I typically do not enjoy working out but these classes make it fun! So to sum it up, I can spend time with Finn, socialize, and get a great workout! Everyone in the group is welcoming and we look forward to our classes every week!

4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

I always knew that motherhood would be challenging and that I would be tired; I just never realized that I could be the most tired I have ever been in my life and the most happy I have ever been, all at the same time. When I see that little face smiling up at me, all of my worries and frustrations just melt away. The love that I feel for that little guy is unreal.

5. Favorite website(s)?

Facebook, Etsy, and Amazon.

6. List three current obsessions.

1.) I love crafting and I am currently on a sewing kick. 2.) Finding time to read 3.) Stroller Strides

7. What is your child's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?

Finn is a fun and giggly little guy. He loves to laugh at almost everything and is not afraid of much. It sounds crazy, but my husband and I enjoy hiding from him and then jumping out and scaring him. At first he is startled, but then he laughs so hard. He has even started trying to hide from us, and then he jump out and "surprises" us! This is a constant game we play at our house.

8. Any tips for other moms out there?

My tip for other mamas is to always be kind. You never know what another mama (or any person, for that matter) is going through. Sometimes a kind word or gesture can make all the difference in brightening an otherwise gloomy day for someone. And the best piece of advice I have ever heard is to be kind to yourself! It is so easy to be hard on yourself when it comes to this thing called motherhood. We have so much pressure to do and be everything and to ensure that our children have the best life possible. What we often fail to realize is that as long as our children's basic needs are met and they feel loved, we are rocking this motherhood thing!
