July Mom of the Month: Louise Glendon!

From Instructor Ashley Youngblood, "Lou has been a member of Stroller Strides since January 2016. She and Harry always show up with great smiles and ready to work hard. She will be moving back to Australia soon and we are so sad to see her go, but so thrilled she and her family will be closer." Let's hear more about Lou!

1. Who are the members of your family?

I have Harry who is now almost 2 yo, and then two girls Milly & Lucy who are 10 and 9.. and my hubby Oli. I feel super lucky to be a mum all over again, and to have the help of my older girls, who are totally smitten with their brother.

2. What is or was your career?

I was in the Australian Air Force as an Intel Officer for 13 years, which is where I met mu hubby, when we were both at the Military Academy. I loved my career and that the Air Force was very supportive of me as a parent, allowing me to work part time, and skip any deployments I didn't want to do as a Mum... but after we had a US posting in 2009, I had a taste of working from home, and then I ended up leaving though to run a business as a Boudoir Photographer based in Australia. Then, due to our travel desires, I started a business that's now run purely online, where I teach photography to Mums and women, at Click Love Grow.

3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of Savannah and

what has it done for you?

I first joined Stroller Strides when Harry was about 4 months old, and it was so invaluable to me. I was suffering from the grief of having just lost my dad, the sleepless-ness of a new baby, and having moved internationally to Savannah.... Stroller Strides meant I had a reason to leave the house, and the exercise was a huge part if my healing from all that was going on in my life at the time... PLUS meeting so many lovely women and friends. Which is invaluable when you've just moved to a new town!

4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

I had my first baby over 10 years ago, so this time around it was a special treat in that I knew how quick it all went, and I was able to appreciate every part of this time around... but that didn't make it "easier". But i knew that seeking out a supportive tribe of mum friends was super important and made the journey so much easier and more fun!

5. Favorite website(s)?

Can I plug my own.. lol...

6. List three current obsessions.

Gin and tonics, chocolate, travel.

7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or

favorite thing that you do?

We love heading out to Tybee to eat at The Deck.. the beach is there for the kids, and mumma can have a drink. We also love going into town for icecreams, and just hanging out all together.

8. Any advice for other moms out there?

My advice to mum's (with retrospect because this is 3rd time round) is to be kind to yourself and don't try and live up to any expectations of what you 'should' be doing... Also find a great, supportive group of friends, and don't be afraid to ask for help. And of-course get out of the house and moving... hehe, aka, get yo'self to Stroller Strides!
