April MOM of the month Heather Stockman!

From Instructor Ashley Youngblood: Heather was my very first mama to join after taking over FIT4MOM Savannah. I was immediately inspired by her readiness, determination, and consistancy. She and Mackenzie have been rocking it out since January and I am so proud of her and her results, mentally and physically. Way to go Heather!!

1. Who are the members of your family?

Me and my husband, Trevor; our 6 month old daughter, Mackenzie; and our two dogs, Jackson and Bandit

2. What is or was your career?

I was a design assistant and seamstress for Jane Coslick Designs and Restorations out on the islands.

3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of Savannah and

what has it done for you?

I've been coming since January of this year. Firstly, this class helped me regulate my schedule so that I'm starting off at the same time every day, whereas before I'd just sleep in as long as I could keep getting my daughter back to sleep and there was no clear order to the day, nor was I as productive with my hours when I was awake. It's also really made me push myself in terms of my fitness goals. Finishing the full work out instead of quitting half way through like I surely would at home with a training CD; running when I might choose to walk otherwise, or doing full body exercises instead of just getting on a cardio machine like I probably would most days at the gym. I've also made so many friends and gotten a lot of great advice from other moms who have already been where I'm at in this journey.

4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

Just how much everything changes. Little things don't seem to matter anymore, and then all of the sudden things I've never had to think about before become so important.

And just how much effort is now required for things like just going a few blocks away to the store to pick up an item or two.

5. Favorite website(s)?

I pretty much live on Facebook, and I love Craigslist. I stalk the sales pages and always end up getting some really great deals.

I've also recently discovered the magic that is Amazon Prime

6. List three current obsessions.

Mint chocolate chip milkshakes

Qalo rings

All things home improvement

7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?

She has this weird obsession with sticking her hands in my mouth. And it's only with me. Any time I hold her (especially nursing her) she tries to sneak her fingers up there. And if I do pretend to eat her hands, she laughs harder than anything.

8. Any tips for other moms out there?

It really does take a village! It's always been hard for me to ask for help, but sometimes you really do need it. And honestly your hardest critic is yourself. Never be afraid to reach out to your friends and family, because most of them have probably been where you are now.
